Blevins City Council

The Blevins City Council met on Tuesday (6-3).  After the prayer, there was a roll call.  All were present.  The last meeting’s minutes were then read and approved.  The treasury report was then presented and approved.  David Vondroon gave his report on a water rate study telling the council about the water bills for the past few years.  He also discussed payroll for city employees.  He mentioned the sewer funds would need to be moved to the water fund.  The council then debated on how to rearrange funds.

The floor was opened for questions.  Donny Lane, a city contractor, asked about how to handle the citizens and shutting off water.  He mentioned he didn’t want to shut off water for people who will say they will pay it.  He was curious about having to keep going over and locking/unlocking their water.  It was brought up by one council member to give them 2 months to pay it.  The current grace period is 10 days.  It was stated there needs to be a letter sent out with the next bill that there will be a cutoff date.
The mayor will be meeting with a prosecutor about Blevin’s animal control ordinance.
Several roads in Blevins are eroded.  Mr. Lane wanted to get some gravel to help fill in the eroded roads.  The cost of putting in culverts and fixing the roads hasn’t yet been calculated.  The mayor wants to have a city email set up.  He said it would cost about $12 per year.  The mayor said the city needs to get 12 traffic cones. This would cost $224.  The meeting then adjourned.
