Hope Tourism Commission

On Tuesday, June 10th, the Hope Advertising and Tourist Promotion Commission met to discuss upcoming events, a new advertising campaign, and continuing work projects. Chairperson Sharon Caldwell, Mayor Don Still, members Trevor Coffee and Steve Montgomery, and the secretary, Summer Chambers, were in attendance. The meeting began with motions to accept the minutes and the reported revenue and expenses. The promo videos of the upcoming advertising campaign were shared with those in attendance, demonstrating the medical, educational, and entertainment benefits available to Hope’s visitors and residents. The presentations will serve as ads to promote visiting and living in Hope. The Hope Advertising and Tourist Promotion Commission is dedicated to showcasing the city’s unique attractions—from the restored 1912 train depot and Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site to outdoor adventures at Millwood Lake. Whether exploring local shops, savoring Southern cuisine, or attending one of Hope’s lively festivals, there’s always something to discover in this small town with a big heart. The monthly meeting business included the July 5th fireworks, celebrating Independence Day, and continuing the discussion and preparation of the Kopecky property for the Veterans Memorial. The “eternal flame” was confirmed; however, adding a “water feature” was dismissed. The commission advised that local veterans and their families’ input in the planning and construction of the memorial was essential. The commission postponed the National Fitness Campaign discussion for later consideration. The commission cited the busyness of the season. Informally, a discussion of an “entertainment district” like other Arkansas communities was discussed. The meeting ended with a reminder that the gates for the Fireworks Show on July 5th would be open at 5:30 p.m. to alleviate congestion.
