Emmet City Council

The Emmet City Council met on Thursday (6-19). All council members were present. There was an approved motion for the agenda. Last meetings minutes were approved 3-1. Mayor Dale Booker noted the bank needs a list of those approved to sign checks on behalf of the city. There was some tension about changing who on the council can sign checks. There was a motion made to accept the changes made by Alderman Clark.
A citizen spoke to the council about disruptive dogs in the city. An ordinance on this subject was considered.
Deanna Allen asked for Emmet to annex some of her and a neighbor’s property into Emmet’s city limits. She gave several reasons, such as adding to the population by 25 people. She also discussed the negative, such as extending the sewage line. She asked the council to make a motion to make an ordinance and let the citizens vote on it. Alderman Clark made a motion to annex the proposed land. Shannon Peck second the motion.
Dee Clark, the Emmet Farmers Market manager gave the market report. She said they have 6 regular vendors. She said the market was recently featured on Channel 7. The market will have a 4th of July celebration at 5pm on Friday, July 4th. There will be fireworks, food trucks, music, and activities for the kids. The public is invited.
The council discussed having a youth group from Calvary Ministries will help clean up the soccer fields.
The council went into executive session for personnel matters and adjourned after coming back into public session.
