Hempstead County NAACP Members Planning for Arkansas State Conference

Hempstead County, Arkansas, June 20, 2025 – NAACP 6012B Hope-Hempstead County Branch is proud to join our NAACP Arkansas State Conference welcoming members and people of good conscience to the 80th Convention and Freedom Fund Gala. The program will take place September 18 – 20 at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock, AR.

This year’s theme ‘We Were Built For This’ is a call to action,” State Conference President Barry Jefferson noted. He continued, “It signifies our commitment to justice and equity as we rely on the strength of our forefathers before us who taught us how to endure.”

6012B President Sylvia C. Brown added, “The work of the NAACP is always done as a collective. Organizing and mobilizing communities that have experienced and are experiencing the stressors of ‘-isms’ is hard work and heart work.”

The State Conference is delighted to welcome Derrick Johnson, National NAACP President and CEO, to the state once again. President Johnson was the keynote and featured guest at the NAACP Pine Bluff Branch’s gala last year. Elected to the position in October 2017, he has a long history of leadership within the NAACP, including vice chairman of the National Board of Directors and president of the Mississippi State Conference.
