Drury Shepherd Hoover

Drury Shepherd Hoover, age 88, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. Mrs. Hoover, affectionately known as Dru, was born on December 12, 1936, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Maxwell Livingston Jr. and Lelia Shepherd Price. Dru was a devoted wife to her husband, Glen (Pete) Hoover, and a caring mother to her seven children.
Dru taught Civics in the Hope School District for 21 years. After retirement, she became involved in the food pantry at her church, Our Lady of Good Hope, and volunteered at Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank where she received multiple awards, including the Andrea Darby Lifetime Achievement Award, for her tireless effort in helping feed those in need.
Dru is preceded in death by her husband Glen (Pete) Hoover, parents Myron and Lelia Shepherd and Maxwell Livingston Jr., and sister Robin (Tony) Sedlock.
Left to cherish her memory are her seven children: Peter Hoover, Mike (April) Hoover, Margaret (John) Bullock, Chris Hoover, Tim (Wendy) Hoover, John (Cindy) Hoover, Mary (Ronnie) Thompson, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope, Arkansas, Friday, July 18, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. with visitation to follow 6:00-7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, Hope, Arkansas, Saturday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. and a graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens in Hope, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home of Hope.
