Justin Crane announces for Hempstead County Sheriff

Justin Crane
Candidate for Sheriff – Hempstead County
July 14, 2025

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

After proudly serving the citizens of Hempstead County for the past 18 years, I’m honored to announce my candidacy for Sheriff. From my early days on patrol to my current role as Captain with the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office, I’ve dedicated my life to protecting this community, earning your trust, and standing up for what’s right. I began my career in 2007 here at the Hempstead County Sheriff’s office where I have spent the entirety of my law enforcement career.

Now, I’m ready to take the next step—to lead with integrity, strengthen public safety, and build a safer future for all of us.

This county isn’t just where I work. It’s home. I was born and raised here. I’ve built my life here. And for over two decades, I’ve done my best to protect and serve the people who make this place special. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a volunteer firefighter for the past 24 years and connecting with many of you through community events and conversations that matter.

In the last couple of years, I’ve continued to grow in leadership, completing the Arkansas Leader Program in 2023 and the Sheriff’s Administration and Management Course in 2024—both through the Criminal Justice Institute.
My wife Emily and I have been married for 15 years; Together, we have two children, Connor (14) and Makinlee (7) who both attend Spring Hill School. Myself and Emily are both graduates of Spring Hill Schools. I am the head coach for the Spring Hill Trap team. We are deeply rooted in this community. I’m running as a Republican, and I’m a Christian who believes strongly in faith, family, and community. I also believe that leadership should always put people first.

If elected, my focus will be on:
• Building trust between the Sheriff’s Office and our community through transparency and accountability.
• Prioritizing school safety by making sure our School Resource Officers are well-trained and supported—and working closely with educators, parents, and students to keep our kids safe.
• Fighting drug issues head-on by partnering with other agencies, promoting education for our youth, and supporting those on the path to recovery.

My heart is in this work. I’m not running for a title or a paycheck—I’m running because I truly want to make a difference. I want to see Hempstead County thrive, and I believe we can do that together through respect, integrity, and real service.

Over the next few months, I hope to visit with many of you, listen to your concerns, and share my ideas for the future. I’d be honored to earn your support, your prayers, and your vote.

Let’s work together to make Hempstead County the safest and strongest it can be.

With gratitude,
Justin Crane
Republican Candidate for Sheriff of Hempstead County
