Prescott City Council

The Prescott City Council met on Monday (7-21).  Rowe Stayton, a member of the Prescott Rotary Club, was present to thank the Council for its support the Rotary’s recent community dance.  He mentioned there was heavy rain during the event, but he said it was still a success.

After the prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, there were a few words from Mayor Terry Oliver.  He said Prescott had a good summer.  The mayor took time to thank the departments of Prescott, such as the electrical linemen, city board members, and sewage crew.  The mayor was also congratulated for his efforts.
The last meeting’s minutes were approved.  A question was asked about the budget.  Carl Dalrymple said in some places the city was over the budget and in some places, they were under.  There is talk of a budget meeting being scheduled.  The council voted to approve the financial statement.
Larry Jones Jr. was present to discuss the electricity for Prescott.  Prescott is trying to install solar panels, but there are battery size limitations.  The best time to charge the batteries is 4pm-5am, which would save the city money.  There was some discussion about the battery, such as the language SWEPCO used in their contract.  Mr. Jones said with the battery, Prescott could save $50,000 to $90,000 per year.
One board member said that on August 9th the National Guard Armory will be holding an event for back to school.  The event starts at 8am.  The meeting then adjourned.
