Cynthia Gayle “Cindy” Lance

Cynthia Gayle “Cindy” Lance, 65, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away peacefully August 5, 2025, at home.
Cindy was born on January 28, 1960, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Dr. William C. “Bill” and Mildred Elizabeth “Betty” Loe. The family followed Dr. Loe to Baton Rouge, Louisiana while he earned his doctorate degree before making Magnolia, Arkansas their hometown. In 1981, Cindy married the love of her life, Steve Lance, and they set about building an exemplary life and marriage that will not soon be forgotten.
Cindy retired from the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana in 2022 after more than 20 years moving from instructor to Dean of the Business Department, to Controller in the Business Office and finally to Vice Chancellor of Finance. She was a faithful member of the Hope Church of Christ for many years, and her family recently had found a home at Walnut Church of Christ.
She served our community in many ways through Hope Rotary, UAHT, and Lance & Associates Real Estate.
She is remembered by all who knew her as a loving and kind wife, generous mother, fantastic “Madre,” and all-around genuinely good person. Cindy never met a stranger. She would instantly welcome you into her family and took great care to make each person feel immediately loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her father-in-law, Willard Simons Lance.
Left to honor and cherish her legacy of love are her husband of 43 years, Steve; her mother-in law, Lucile Lance; one daughter, Amanda Lance of Hope, and one son Clay Lance and Megan of Hope; two sisters, Jan Hastings and Terry of Benton, and Cathy Loe of Hope; one brother-in-law, Dr. Glenn Lance and Cynthia of Nashville; one granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth, and one granddaughter expected later this month, Stevie Cathryn; five nieces and nephews, Pam West and Carl of Benton, Josh Hastings and Kim of Benton, Jonathon Lance of Nashville, Kathleen Lance of Little Rock, and Garrett Lance of Columbia, Missouri; one great niece and two great- nephews, Caitlyn West, Jasper Hastings and Wyatt Hastings, all of Benton; friends who were family, Jeanette and Jerry Nance, and countless close friends and family.
