Hope Kiwanis Club Hears Hope Bobcat Football Program

The Hope Kiwanis Club welcomed head Hope Bobcat football coach Phillip Turner on Tuesday (8-12). Coach Turner said they have 38 to 40 out for football this year. The coach noted this will probably be Hope’s last year in 5A.
Coach Turner said they have eleven seniors back, sixteen juniors, and the rest are sophomores. He noted he’s impressed with the offensive line. At their first team camp, the coach noted many other coaches noticed the team’s physicality. He said this has to do with work in the weight room.
The starting quarterback, Austin Courtney, will be back this year. He also noted some other players including Trey Hoglund and Sam Johnson. He also noted a new player named Ben Stewart as well as right guard Hunter Godwin and Xavier Key.
Coach Turner noted Parkview is the favorite in our conference this year followed by Camden-Fairview.
Also on hand for the program was Defensive Coordinator Bobby Clark and Assistant Head Coach Jonathan Turner.
Tuesday (8-19)the team will scrimmage Camden/Harmony Grover at 6pm at Hammons Stadium. The varsity season opens September 5th against Nashville.
