Hope Tourism Commission

The Hope Tourism Commission met on Tuesday (8-12) The July meetings minutes, revenue and expenses were reviewed.
The roof on the visitor’s center needs to be fixed. Jeremy Stone, the City Engineer presented several bids. They included Oliver’s Custom Roofing for $52,905, Terra Firma Restoration for $115,100, and Barton Roofing for $120,800. Barton Roofing’s bid was really a proposal. Mr. Stone suggested Oliver’s Custom Roofing, which is what the Tourism Commission voted to accept..
The commission approved a motion to change the Hope Tourism logo.
The commission considered a few people for the Veterans Memorial Committee. They included retired Colonel David Lively and Larry Appel.
The board looked at the budget for the July 4th celebration. The expenses included fireworks for $13,063, inflatables for $3,578, the sound, stage, and generator at $2,300, the Nighthawk Band for $600, the Road Dawg Band for $600, and South Down Main for $650. Other expenses included $1,200 for Port-a-John and another generator for $707.
The contract with Union Pacific is being renewed, insuring that the city still owns the area around the train depot downtown. The meeting was adjourned.
