Bro. Robert Cheatham

Robert Cheatham 75, passed away peacefully on August 10th, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Johnny Cheatham and Lizzie Mae (Wilburn) Cheatham, in Hope, Arkansas on November 14, 1949. He was a graduate of Yerger High School. He worked several jobs, including Lone Star Ammunition Plant and Champion Automotive Part Plant. Robert was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of North Walker Street Church of Christ until his health failed. Robert was an avid believer in studying, and decided to go into ministering, and served as minister at North Walker Street Church of Christ over 40 years. He collected over 2000 biblical books and also shared books with others wherever he went. He loved teaching bible classes, and was also affiliated with southwest district radio program where he was on every Sunday morning, and also participated in a television program called “the way”, for many years, and was always ready to give an answer to anyone who ask a biblical question, if he did not have the answer right away he would search until he found it for them. Robert never forgot a birthday or holiday, and he also loved baking cakes, playing dominoes, and spending time with his family and friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Delois Anthony one sister-in-law Rebecca Cheatham, one brother-in-law, Grady Anthony, and one niece Angela Williamson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Hazel, of 53 years. He also leaves to cherish his memory, one son Charles Cheatham (Tammy) of Dallas, Tx. Two daughters Rhonda Rankins (James), of Hope, AR, and Lashonda Lafayette (Timothy), of Texarkana, AR., five grandchildren, Charles Cheatham II (Chelsea) of Lakeland, FL, and Alicia Barbosa (Alexander) of Tampa, FL, Laquasha Smith (Dominique) of Irving, TX, Ladaesha Smith (Shamar) of Texarkana, TX., and Lajaidyn Rankins of Hope, AR; five great grandchildren Aliza, Zain, and Zakara Cheatham of Lakeland, FL, and Kyson and Kaidence Bryant of Irving, TX. Two brothers, Johnny Cheatham, II, and James Cheatham of Hope, AR. One stepbrother, Reggie Manning of Los Angeles, CA. Two sisters, Jamesetta Cheatham of Hope, AR. And Tammy Cheatham of Los Angeles, CA. One aunt Rosie Wilburn of Los Angeles, CA. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 12-5pm, family hour 5-6pm Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be 2:30 Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Hope Church of Christ, 1815 Rocky Mound Rd, Hope, AR.  Burial will be at Cave Hill #2 Cemetery in Hope.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
