Bobcats Fall to Scrappers 47 to 20
The Hope Bobcats open up their 2025 season on the road against the Nashville Scrappers. Nashville played their first game of the season losing against the Magnolia Panthers 30-6 in Magnolia last Friday night.
The Scrappers opened up the first quarter scoring on 4 possessions. Their first drive TD was called back for holding.
The Bobcats had two big plays wiped out by penalties with Trey Hoglund at QB. Nashville scores led to 3 touchdowns in the first quarter leading 21-0. A fumble by the Bobcats resulted in another Scrapper TD ending the first quarter with a 27-0 lead missing the extra point.
The Cats finally drove deep in Scrapper territory late in the second quarter but the drive ended on downs at the Nashville 10-yard line. The Cats also fumbled deep in the Scrappers’ end of the field to stop another drive.
The Scrappers closed out the 2nd quarter with two more td’s and another missed extra point leading 40-0 at halftime.
Hoglund completed the half with 9 of 11 passes for 85 yards with 1 interception, and 1 fumble.
The 2nd half of football saw Hope scoring 3 touchdowns iout scoring the Scrappers 20-7 cutting the lead to 47-20.
Austin Courtney completed 6 of 7 passes for 199 yards and 3 TD’s in the second half.
Jaiden Brown had 4 catches of 186 yards receiving with 2 TD’s in a bright spot for the Bobcats offence. Noah Cheatham also had 4 catches of 47 yards for the night.
Denote Williams also had 2 catches for 17 yards and 1 touchdown.
Trey Gomer also had 10 carries for 21 yards. Hope ended the game with 312 yards of total offence.
The final score was 47-20 Nashville. Hope travels to Ashdown Friday night September 12th at 7 pm.
