New Sign for St. Marks and First United Methodist Church at Third and Elm Downtown

September 28th…St. Mark’s is one of the best kept secrets in Hope. We are right in the middle of town- hidden in plain view! St. Mark’s has been working hard to spruce up the place a bit, and one of the ways we decided to do this was to upgrade our front sign. First United Methodist Church, Hope, has also been using our facility for a little over a year now, and we wanted to construct a sign that would let the community and visitors know BOTH churches are here in the middle of our community to serve YOU! Dr. Jim Powell graciously donated some old brick that looks like it belonged with the church to construct the new signpost. Both the Episcopal and Methodist Church have beautiful new signs hung from the arms for everyone coming up Third Street to view. Now, we are no longer “hidden”! Today, we unveiled our new signs to the community of Hope, and both congregations joined together to dedicate the signage in memory of two of our youth who have passed on before us. A plaque on the front of the signpost reads: “Dedicated in Loving Memory of Cara Jones and Tyler Morrow, September 28, 2025.” Cara Jones was the daughter of Gayden and Gayle Jones, and twin sister of Cyle Jones (Payton). She went to her heavenly home in 2009. Gayle has been a life- long member of St. Mark’s. Tyler Morrow was the son of Chris and Tracy Morrow, brother of Abby (Morrow) Hudson (Jake). Tyler went to be with the Lord in 2021. The Morrow family also has ties to St. Mark’s. Chris’s grandfather, Russell Leonard, and his wife Genola were members of St. Mark’s. Mr. Leonard’s name is on the plaque on the outside wall of the Parish Hall, as a Vestry member when that building was constructed. It was a beautiful day to celebrate at St. Mark’s. Photos show both the Morrow family and the Jones family, and the Methodist group present for the ceremony. Not pictured are the St. Mark’s group. Also pictured are Father Robert McLeod and Pastor Tom Mullins, clergy. St. Mark’s Episcopal Church meets the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 9 a.m. We welcome all visitors. Come as you are. We are here to serve God, and minister to you through the Word and love of God.
