Margaret June Phillips – Updated

Margaret June Phillips, age 95, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Hospice of Texarkana, Texas.
June was born February 26, 1930, in Washington, Arkansas, to Sherman and Ethel Manus Cox. She was married to Harry Phillips in April of 1946, and together they shared many happy years.
June was a housewife who also worked part time in several ladies’ shops in Hope, Arkansas. At one time she raised pullets for Egg City of Arkansas. She was a hard worker who was frugal and wise. She was known for her integrity, dedication to her friends and family. June was an excellent cook and immaculate housekeeper who lived at home alone until her recent illness.
At the time of her death, she was the longest living active member of Unity Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas. She had taught Sunday School, worked in the nursery, and sang in the choir. At the time of her death, she was treasurer of the Galt Sunday School Class. When the church had a fundraiser, her cakes were a big item.
She loved all Arkansas Razorback sports, and she was an avid gardener. June was the last living citizen of the original community of Oakhaven.
June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Alan Phillips, her sisters Martha Cox, Jewel Dean Watkins Moore, and Mary Martin.
Survivors include her son Ronnie Phillips (Jeann), granddaughter Mandy Marcum (Chad), great-granddaughters Mazie and Violet Bright, her twin sister Nell Jones and brother Larry Cox (Fran), as well as her adopted son Buzz Andrews.
A special thanks to the nursing staff of Hospice of Texarkana for the wonderful care they gave her, as well as her niece Joan Smith for all the love and support she has given through the years.

Visitation will be Monday, October 27, from 5pm to 7pm, at the Brazzel Oakcrest chapel.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, October 28, 10am, at Rosehill Cemetery.
