The Civil War and Hempstead County

HOPE – Did you realize that the state capital was located in Hempstead County during the Civil War? Our area was not immune to some of the toils and tribulations of the national conflict. Come hear from Josh Williams, local historian, about the events that took place in Hempstead County during the Civil War and the closest battle that took place in the county just north of modern day Prescott.

The Hempstead County Historical Society will meet on Tuesday evening October 28th at the Tailgaters Burger Company Annex Room in Hope, Arkansas at 7pm. The room is located at 101 South Main Street. Everyone is welcome.
