Hempstead County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee Hosts Chamber Business After Hours

The Hempstead County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee hosted a Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Tuesday (11-18) at the Farm Bureau office on North Hervey. There was good food and fellowship.
If those attending noted some of the signs posted at the event, they would have learned Hempstead County ranks #6 in Arkansas in cattle production. There are 450 cattle farms with 54,000 head of cattle in Hempstead County with a value of $97 million dollars.
Hempstead County ranks #7 in Arkansas for total pastureland with 97,000 acres in pastureland.
The annual market value for agriculture in Hempstead County averages $232 million dollars with a net of $68 million.
Hempstead County is #7 in total timber production. The county has 11 million tons of pine and 9.7 million tons of hardwood on 310,000 acres of forrest land.
