Holiday Lights Shine Bright in Downtown Hope for the Christmas Open House
Downtown Hope was illuminated on Thursday evening (11/20) for the annual Christmas Open House, hosted by the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce. From 5 to 7 p.m., families enjoyed festive lights, decorated storefronts, and holiday treats as part of this year’s theme, “A Holly Jolly Game Night.”
The historic railroad depot was the centerpiece at 6 p.m. when the Danctastics dancers put on an energetic holiday performance that wowed the crowd and became one of the night’s highlights. One of the young dancers’ grandmothers shared that her four-year-old granddaughter was at the center of the dance group, and that she was so proud.
Other attractions included carriage rides through decorated streets, ice skating at the HUB, and fun games in Pocket Park.
Visitors browsed downtown shops, sampled homemade chili and sweet treats, and warmed up with hot chocolate and cider. Live entertainment continued at the Downtown Network Building with a lively skit of The Twelve Days of Christmas in Hope, performed by local artists.
The weather cooperated, with no rain during the event, which was a blessing. The family-friendly event is a tradition everyone looks forward to each year. The evening ended with the announcement of the Gingerbread House Competition winners, leaving everyone in a festive mood and excited for the upcoming Christmas Parade on December 1.
