Don Atchley – Updated

Don Atchley, age 77, of Hot Springs Village went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2025. He was born October 14, 1948, in Hope to the late Joe Cecil and Ruby (Brown) Atchley.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents J.C. and Ruby Atchley and one brother Joe Atchley.
He is survived by his brother Steve (Sue) Atchley, Nieces Julie (Steven) Russell, Jodi Willis, Leah (Sam) McJunkins, Natalie (Ben)Evans, Sister-in-Law Linda Atchley, his dog and beloved companion Charlie and extended family and friends.
Donnie was a graduate of Hope High School in 1967. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and teaching from Henderson State University and a master’s degree in art from Auburn University. After his graduation he was an art teacher at Camden High School. He was a member of Cross Hills Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village.
Before retirement Donnie was employed by Haverty’s and Stacy’s Furniture in Grapevine Texas where he could put his special artistic touch in someone’s home thru interior design. He was especially talented with painting and drawing and when visiting his home, you could see all his works of art on display. He loved the game of golf and before his decline in health could be seen on the many golf courses of Hot Springs Village daily. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing.
We would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Hospice House of Texarkana and Dr. Bennett for the excellent care they provided Donnie in his last few days.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 14, 2025, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home.
