Thomas Edward Hays, III – Updated

Thomas Edward Hays, III was born in Dallas, Texas on July 10. 1961 to Betty Jo Fite Hays and Thomas E. Hays, Jr. He grew up in Hope, Arkansas, the Hays family hometown, where he attended Hope Public Schools. He graduated from St. Stephens School in Alexandria, Virginia, the University of Arkansas, and the U of A School of Law. He received the Master of Law degree from Exeter University and the PhD degree from Cambridge University in England, specializing in international law relative to intellectual property. He taught law courses at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and practiced law in London and Cambridge. He died on December 16, 2025, in Galveston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hope banker Thomas E. Hays, Jr.; his brother, Daniel Fite Hays, Hempstead County rancher; and his son, Percival Julian Fuller Hays, of Cambridge, England. He is survived by his mother, Betty Jo Fite Hays of Texarkana, Texas; his brother, John Julian Hays of Texarkana, Texas; his wife, Helen Fuller Hays; and his children, Thomas Thornton Hays and wife, Haley; Edward J. Hays, Arthur Francis Fuller Hays, Tristan Michael Fuller Hays, and Clementine Winifred Fuller Hays.
