Emily Jane Hays

Emily Jane Hays, age 94, of Washington, Arkansas passed away on February 10, 2026, in Hope, Arkansas.

Emily was born on June 25, 1931, in Comanche, Texas to her parents, Leslie and Goldie Norwood Fleming. Early on in her years she was a teacher in South Dakota and later moved to Washington, Arkansas in 1947, where she taught and retired from the Saratoga School System. She had a love for animals, mainly cattle, horses, dogs, and cats. Her and her husband, Frank Hays had a cattle and poultry farm together for 40 years. She also enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook.

Mrs. Hays was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hays; brother, Milton Fleming; and two sisters, June Price and Earlene Wooton.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Kurt Hays (Wanda); two grandchildren, Wendy Martin (Todd), and Conrad Hays (Elizabeth); three great-grandchildren, Clay Hays, Hays Martin, and Gracy Martin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
