Hope Civitan Club Hears About Proposed Hope Millage Increase

The Hope Civitan Club recently heard from Hope School District Superintendent Johnathan Crossley (left) and Communications and Public Relations Director Tony McClain on a proposed millage increase with a first priority to keep all students “warm, safe and dry” while improving or renovating aging facilities. Dr. Crossley said the proposed 5-mill investment will bring the Hope School District up to the State average of over 39 mills. At the current rate of 35 mills, Hope Schools rank close to the bottom in community support, 207th out of 235 school districts in Arkansas, and lower than many surrounding schools. Additional information on the critical needs to be met can be found on the HPS website, according to McClain. The millage increase vote will be on the March 3 ballot, with early voting beginning February 17.
