Hempstead County Teen Leadership Dinner provides etiquette training to area youth

Guest speaker, Rebekah Moore

HOPE – On February 9th at Hempstead Hall, around 30 high school junior and senior members of FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, TSA, and 4-H attended the Hempstead County Teen Leadership Dinner. These students were from Spring Hill, Blevins, and Hope schools. Also in attendance were their teacher sponsors, Hope High School Principal – Kimberly Dunham, and special guests – Judge Jerry T. Crane and Rep. Dolly Henley and husband Paul Henley. Executive Director of Hope Downtown Network, Rebekah Moore, was guest speaker and prompted the students to “Know Your Why.”

Prior to the dinner, Betty Wingfield – Hempstead County 4-H Agent, travelled to the area schools presenting programs and demonstrations on table manners/etiquette. The dinner offered an opportunity for students to practice these skills.

The meal, provided by the Hempstead County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, consisted of stuffed pork tenderloin, roasted vegetables, and assorted desserts. The room was decorated with a black and gold theme by the Hempstead County Cooperative Extension Office. Youth servers for the evening were students from Garrett Memorial Christian School.

This event, co-sponsored by the Hempstead County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and the Hempstead County Cooperative Extension Office, is held every other year.
