Hope High baseball action

HOPE – Although a tough loss, the Hope Bobcat baseball team played an impressive first game performance with star players including Jaiden Brown with a run, two hits, a stolen base, two assists for putouts, and a double play, Israel Juarez, with a run and five strikeouts on the mound, and Sam Johnson, who had a whopping eight putouts, two stolen bases, and two strikeouts from the mound.

After the game, we spoke to Head Coach Brandon Martindale about his thoughts on this opening matchup, “I thought overall it was a very productive game, and it was a great opportunity to compete against a quality team. I’m proud of how our team competed. This game allowed us to see where we need to improve and we will continue to work.” He went on to say, “Overall, I was pleased with our pitching staff as a whole. They kept us in the game, worked through some tough situations, and allowed us to have a chance to win offensively. As an offense, we have to get better at taking advantage of these opportunities and not missing our chance with runners in scoring position. We now have to just put our heads down and go to work and prepare to play four games next week.”

The Bobcats will face the Taylor Tigers in Taylor on Monday, March 2nd at 5:00 pm.
