Vernon Haynes – Updated

The arms of Jesus were outstretched to welcome a beloved soul home on the evening of Thursday, March 5th. Vernon Haynes was in the presence of his adoring wife, Frances, as he peacefully left her hands and entered the gates of Heaven. The love, adoration, and mutual respect between Frances and Vernon were enviable. Their marriage has been an example of what it means to love one another through first loving Christ. They pledged their love to each other forever on October 9, 1959. They were blessed with three wonderful children: one son, Michael Ray Haynes, one daughter, Ramona Dee Haynes Bonnette, and “THE BABY”, William Jeffrey Haynes. In 1983, they gained a bonus Danish daughter, Liselotte (Lotte) Schliemann Hansen, through a foreign student exchange program.
His children were his pride and joy. He was the kind of father that most thought only existed in sitcoms like “Leave it to Beaver,” where discipline came in the form of a talk with calm, sternness that ended with confirmation that love and pride were still intact. He was a steady, safe haven. Life lessons came in the form of building things in the shop together, and although little may have been spoken, the message was clear: working hard is something to take pride in, integrity is non-negotiable, treating others with dignity is expected, and you will be in church when the doors are open.
His life was one lived through service of many kinds. Vernon was patriotic, loved his country, and always admired an unfurled American Flag flowing in the wind. Although he never engaged in combat, Vernon served as an active member of the National Guard for eight years. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Prescott, where he and Frances were blessed with 22 ½ years of service in missions to Mexico, meeting the spiritual and physical needs of people in underdeveloped areas. These trips were some of their most cherished memories, where precious bonds were created through ministry, lifelong friendships were established, and where evidence of their faith in God and dedication to being the hands and feet of Christ flourished.
The ache of the physical absence Vernon’s passing leaves in the hearts of those who knew and loved him is eased by all the wonderful memories that will forever remain. His greatest joy truly was his family. His legacy of love and joy will carry on through his beloved wife of 66 years and 5 months, Frances Haynes, his sons Michael Ray Haynes (Phyllis Haynes) and William Jeffrey Haynes (Denise Haynes). He is preceded in death by his only “darling daughter”, Ramona Dee Haynes (Mike Bonnette – who has been, and continues to be, a devoted son). He was Poppie to his cherished grands. His grandchildren are Stephan, Chase, Colton, Alex, Kalyn, and Heath. His adored great-grandchildren are Grant, Sam, Noelle, Sebastian, Maddox, Madelynn, Tiare, Isaiah, Elle, RJ, Asher, and one more on the way. He is preceded in death by one grandson, Quinton, and one great-grandson, Max.
