Evening Light Services Prepare Hearts for Easter

Prescott, Ark. – United Methodist congregations in Hope, Gurdon, and Prescott joined together during the Lenten season for a series of Evening Light worship services, leading hearts and minds toward the hope of Easter and the Resurrection. The three-service series began March 8 at First United Methodist Church of Hope, featuring Pastor Jeff Ladd of First United Methodist Church of Gurdon as guest speaker. The second service was held on March 15 at First United Methodist Church of Gurdon, hosted by Pastor Ladd and featuring the Rev. Dr. John Noggle, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Prescott. The final Evening Light Lenten service took place Sunday, March 22, at First United Methodist Church of Prescott, hosted by Dr. Noggle with Tom Mullins, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Hope, serving as guest speaker. Worshipers from all three congregations gathered for scripture, prayer, and reflection, followed by a time of fellowship.

The Evening Light services offered a quiet space for reflection during Lent, reminding worshipers that the journey to the cross ultimately leads to the joy of the empty tomb. As Easter Sunday approaches, the shared worship experience stands as a testimony to Christian unity and the enduring message of the Resurrection and new life.
