Hempstead County Historical Society program on Prairie D’Ane Civil War battlefield

HOPE – March is Archeology Month in Arkansas. Arkansas has many archeological treasures that have been found over the years. Many of them are also located in Hempstead County. Come learn about a recent archeological digs at the Prairie D’Ane Civil War battlefield near Prescott, Arkansas from Dr. Carl Drexler, Arkansas Archeological Survey Archeologist at Southern Arkansas University. During the Civil War, Nevada County was part of Hempstead County. If you have some archeological items, such as arrowheads or other artifacts, bring them to the meeting for Dr. Drexler to identify.

The Hempstead County Historical Society will meet on Tuesday evening March 24th at the Tailgaters Burger Company Annex Room in Hope at 7pm. The room is located at 101 South Main Street. Everyone is welcome.
