Hope, Ark. — A neighborhood block party on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Southview and Pleasant Ridge Apartments on East Third Street, hosted by First United Methodist Church of Hope, turned into a joyful afternoon of food, fellowship, and family fun, with an impressive turnout and plenty of smiles to go around. Organizers reported serving hot dogs, chips, and cookies as children and families spread out across the grounds to enjoy a wide variety of activities.
Along with a much anticipated Easter egg hunt, kids lined up for cornhole and other toss games, spun hula hoops, colored the sidewalks with bright chalk drawings, and chased bubbles floating through the spring air. Laughter and excitement filled the area as children moved from game to game, while adults mingled, visited neighbors, and connected with church members.
The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere gave families space to enjoy the afternoon together while building new friendships. Members of First United Methodist Church of Hope said many neighbors stopped by, and several adults took the opportunity to ask questions about the church and its mission. What began with the hope of serving even just one person grew into a meaningful and memorable outreach. “At one point we were saying that if we could serve just one person, it would be worth it,” one volunteer shared. “But they came, had fun, ate well, giggled, hunted Easter eggs, and shared a few Jesus stories. You know, Jesus was smiling,” said member and volunteer Jan Wright.
Special appreciation was shared for Terri Hoglund, whose leadership, planning, and hospitality helped make the event a success. Volunteers also expressed gratitude to her family and to all who worked both during the event and behind the scenes to make the afternoon possible. With Easter Sunday approaching, church members said the block party was a joyful way to celebrate the season and share the message of Christ’s love with the community. Many expressed hope that neighbors met during the event will join them again soon as they gather to celebrate the risen Lord. One participant summed it up best: “It was another big surprise and a wonderful success. We’re grateful to serve together and enjoy the rest of this spring season.”
