Hope Lions Hear Program on Hope Water & Light Broadband

The Hope Lions Club heard a program on Monday from Brent Norris, Broadband Service Supervisor for Hope Water & Light.  Norris detailed the beginning of the program back in 2020.  Initially, Hope Water & Light installed fiber for internal uses and began making it available to the public in 2022 and 2023.  From an initial pilot plan of 80 customers, the broadband division should cross 1,500 customers in April.

Norris detailed how the Water & Light technicians have continued training and have also taught classes at UAHT.

Hope Water & Light Broadband was prepared for the icy weather in January and got through that winter storm with a minimum of problems.  He said the things that have caused issues with the system include fallen limbs, squirrels, and moles.  Norris explained that what they call fiber is really glass lines.

New customers have come online with Hope Water & Light Broadband.  These customers include Rainbow of Challenges for both broadband and phone service, Tyson Foods, and soon the new Tyson hatchery will be online with Hope Water & Light.

Norris said Hope Water & Light is working to transition from 5G to 6G.  New devices from the company will allow upgrades on all service plans and increased capacity for customers.
