Hope Kiwanis Club Hears On History Of Fulton
HOPE – The Hope Kiwanis Club heard a fascinating program on the history of Fulton from Josh Williams of Historic Washington State Park on Tuesday July 18th. Williams noted Fulton is the oldest town in the county and predates the founding of Washington. Fulton’s biggest population came about 1910 with over 600 residents. Williams noted the town probably didn’t really boom due to the Red River Raft which blocked shipping on the river up to the 1870’s. By the time the raft was cleared, river shipping commenced but the railroad had already come through and the river shipping never caught back up to that mode of shipping and travel.
