HCSO seeks info on stolen truck, weapons
HOPE – The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information as to the whereabouts of Shelby McKenzie, a white male 21-years-old, 5-9, weighing160 with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a tattoo under his right eye.
McKenzie is a suspect in the theft of a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, Arkansas license plate 658-PFD, and the theft of an AK-47. He may be in the company of Destiny Harvel, a white female, who is a suspect in the theft of a Walter P-22 handgun from another residence in Hempstead County. McKenzie is believed to have access to both weapons. He and Harvel are considered armed and dangerous and users of methamphetamine. They may possibly be in Texarkana area.
According to a release from the HCSO, on September 4, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Deputies were contacted by William Putz at the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a vehicle theft.
Putz stated he left the keys in his gray 2013 Chevrolet Silverado in his driveway. He stated there was a trailer with a lawnmower hooked to the truck. Putz stated the trailer was unhooked from the truck; and the truck was stolen. He stated he believes McKenzie took the truck to go pick up a female.
Putz stated the truck belongs to Salt Creek Cable from Benton, adding the truck had a full tank of fuel and another 70 gallons of full in the fuel tank in the bed of the truck. Putz stated he did not know what time the truck was taken, but knows it was after 12:30 a.m. September 4.
Putz stated the truck is a gray 2013 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 and it has a 12-inch l-e-d caution light on the top of it, with a black tool box and a white fuel tank in the back.
On September 4, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the report states, Deputies were dispatched to 840 Highway 355 East in reference to a stole firearm. Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with Eric Lacaze, who stated Harvel had been staying with him since August 26. He stated when he woke up that morning, Harvel and her belongings were gone. Lacaze stated he is also missing a $100 bill and a O.D. green Walther P22 semiautomatic pistol, serial number WA132410. He stated the pistol was loaded.
He stated Harvel was logged on to Facebook on his phone and he saw messages where she was chatting with McKenzie. Lacaze stated he and Harvel were not in a relationship at this time; and he was letting her live there. He stated he does not know where she would have taken the firearm, but believes she is using methamphetamine. He stated she does not have a vehicle and does not know who came and got her from his residence.
