Two charged with possession
PRESCOTT – On Sunday, May 6, K-9 Deputy Jeremy Hendrix was on patrol on U.S. 371 South. Deputy Hendrix made a traffic stop on a Silver 2009 Chevrolet pickup for speeding. The vehicle was traveling at a speed of 72 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. The female driver stated that the owner of the vehicle was the front seat passenger identified as Justin Felder from Hope.
While Deputy Hendrix was talking with the operator he observed an odor known to him to be that of marijuana coming from within the vehicle.
Deputy Hendrix had the female driver and the passenger identified as Felder step to the rear of the vehicle.
Deputy Hendrix advised the owner, Felder, of the odor he had observed coming from within the vehicle and asked Felder if there were any illegal substance inside of the vehicle. Felder stated no. Felder stated there had not been any marijuana inside of the vehicle in two weeks. Deputy Hendrix advised the owner he was going to conduct a free air search of the vehicle with his dog Diego.
Deputy Hendrix asked the back seat passengers to exit the vehicle at this time.
Deputy Hendrix conducted a free air search of the vehicle with Diego alerting on the vehicle.
Deputy Hendrix conducted a search of the vehicle due to the alert.
Deputy Hendrix located a plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in the console of the vehicle.
A further search of the vehicle found a medicine bottle sticking out of the backseat that contained what was believed to be psychedelic mushrooms. The bottle had the name of William Maloch on it, one of the backseat passengers.
Felder stated that the marijuana would have been his because he was the last to have any in the vehicle,
Maloch stated the bottle containing the mushrooms belonged to him.
The operator identified as Rachel Harris from Greenbrier, was cited for speeding (72-55) and was released with the vehicle by owner consent.
Felder was booked into the Detention facility for possession of a controlled substance and was cited and released.
Maloch was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the mushrooms and awaits first appearance for possessing a schedule I substance.
