Yerger student honors given
HOPE – End of year student honors were presented to Yerger Middle School students in a special awards ceremony at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas-Hope campus May 23.
YMS Principal Josclyn Wiley recognized students for leadership excellence, attendance, academic excellence, academic improvement, citizenship and athletics.
Wiley presented awards from her office in five categories, including:
Principal’s Leadership Award – Ammorian Dempsey.
Principal’s Stephanie Terry Award for Leadership – Alana Flenory.
Principal’s Kickboard Award – Keyonati Haynes and Ke’von Leaks.
Principal’s Heart for Learning Award – Jimmy Paredes.
Principal’s Shining Star Award – Roy Torres and Marvin Wheaten.
Academic All “A” Honor Roll awards were presented to Kaleo Anderson, Andrew Sanders, Victor Santamaria, and Shakira Arnett.
Academic A/B Honor Roll awards went to Pedro Cantu, Gilberto Dominguez, Zy’Kell Farris, Jamaria Flemming, Jakiya Hickman, Cy’ara Ingram, China Kight, Jose Luna, Alecia Martin, Mariah Martin, Alexis Martinez, Austin McWilliams, Janiya Nash, Ermelinda Piza, and Jasmin Rodriguez.
Also, Marvin Wheaton, Draelon Williams, Triston Young, Latesha Burton, Julian Chapa III, Alana Flenory, Chandler Flenory, Rebekah Fulton, Dahja Henderson, Armando Lopez, Brenda Lopez, Darlene Matamoros, Jimmy Paredes, Maryana Perez, Khyianna Smith, Krystal Vasquez, Brenda Ventura, and Za’karreya White.
Most Improved Academics awards went to Ja’Qualin Watson, Geovanny Ibarra-Gonzalez, Pedro Cantu, Aniya Flenory, Samuel Houston, Santiago Chavez, Diamond Pearson, Roy Torres, Roberta Rangel, Brandon Martin, Jose Luna, Joshua R. Smith, Austin Hurd, Brenda Ventura, and Gustavo Gallardo.
Citizenship honors were given to Santiago Chavez, Ke’von Leaks, Esmeralda Dominguez, Victor Santamaria, Keyonati Haynes, Ilesha Morris, Jasmin Rodriguez, Brenda Lopez, Alana Flenory, Thalia Martinez, Jerome McFadden, Naziyah Harper, and Rocio Martinez.
Kickboard Attendance Awards went to Kayonati Haynes, Brandon Gallegos, Jimmy Paredes, Brenda Ventura, Gian Almazan, Brenda Lopez, Santiago Chavez, Armando Lopez, Maliyah Richardson, Johan Barrios, Rebekah Fulton, Isabella Johnson, Jair Marrufo, Tylesha Armstrong, Catlin Faulkner, Ariana Guerrero, Austin Hurd, Daniel Marrufo, Janiya Nash, Ermelinda Piza, Jazmin Rodriguez, Victor Santamaria, and Triston Young.
Most Valuable Player athletics awards went to Ammorian Dempsey, Janiya Nash, Alexia Muldrew, Aniya Trotter, and Ja’Qualin Watson.
