Edith Hunter
Edith Hunter, aged 86, of Prescott died November 6, 2018 at Hillcrest Care and Rehab. She was a former employee of Allcare Pharmacy and a member of Prescott First Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Rubin Earl “Bud” Hunter, and son Ronald Earl “Ronnie” Hunter. Survivors include her children: Kathy Bobo (Jimmy) of Malvern, Ricky Hunter, and Michelle Hartman (Greg) all of Prescott; six grandchildren, Abigail Haywood, Misti Kenison (Mike), James Bobo (Amber), Megan Sanders (Derrick), Sarah Parrish (Justin), and Jessica Hartman; and seven great-grandchildren, Ella and Ethan Kenison, Kassidy Teer, Braylen Sanders, Maddison Hunter, Karsyn Sanders, and Hudson Parrish; two brothers, Jim Hastings of Little Rock and James Hastings of Bauxite; two sisters, Alvlene Lewis of Russellville, and Shirley Nicholson of Mabelvale; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Edith was born September 28, 1932 to Lewis and Myrtle (Steeley) Hastings in Ft. Payne, Alabama. At less than one year old, she and her parents then moved to Laneburg, Arkansas. Later, being the oldest of eight children, she spent her time helping to raise her siblings and work on the family farm. She attended school at Central High School in Laneburg, where she played basketball and was the president of the 4-H Club during her senior year. Shortly before graduation, she married Rubin (Bud) Hunter on January 14, 1951 and soon moved to Prescott, AR. She attended First Assembly of God church where she taught Sunday School classes and was an active part of her church family. She was a homemaker, babysat children in her home, began working at Buchanan Drug Store, and retired from Allcare Pharmacy. She knew most of the residents of Prescott, or soon would, as she always had a smiling face and a friendly hello to those she met. Her retirement years consisted of spending time at her church, tending to her flowers, and loving on her family.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 9, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a graveside Celebration of Life service and burial at 2:00 p.m. at New Salem Cemetery in Laneburg with the Revs. Jimmy Bobo and Jerry Hightower officiating.
