Fall season brings festival fun

HOPE – The tradition of fall carnival fun created for the community by students and teachers of the Hope Public Schools continues to flourish with the final campus event set for Thursday at Clinton Primary School.
The CPS Fall Festival is set for 5-7 p.m. in the school cafeteria and is open to the public. Admission donation is one canned good item for Hope In Action.
Hope Academy of Public Service students and parents created a Halloween themed carnival during the recent Hope downtown Trunk or Treat sponsored by the Plowboys Classic Car Club on Oct. 27. HAPS students offered Zombie Bowling, Lucky Duck, Go Fishing, and Cup Throw games along with Face Painting and Bounce House activities for youngsters.
Organizing students and parents included Katie Arroyo (Claudia Arroyo), Alex Bartlett, Zakery Bingle (Tammy Bingle), Marco Barboa, Alecia Bradley, Jordan Brooks, Irvin Castrejon (Yanet Castrejon), Alex Cortes (Tammy Bingle), Camri Cox, Edith Dominguez, Jaslyn Ellis, Zy’kell Farris, Anthony Hall, Brayden Hamilton, Aubrey Hart, Trenton Hart, Ava Hawthorne (Carolyn Hawthorne), Calvin Haynes (Linda Haynes), Tara Henry (Chris Henry), and Courtland Jackson.
Also, Jaquelin Jimenez (Brenda Jimenez), Jaelyn Lara (Emma Lara), Juan Leon, Harlie Lockhart (Mindy Lockhart), Abimael Lopez, Vincent Marks, Suvari Marshall (Tequilla Marshall), Kelston Mask (Ida Mask), Kriston Morrison, and Alisha Muldrew.
Also, Grace Patterson (Tony Patterson), Kovell Phillips (Olivia Phillips), Camron Robinson, Hugo Rodriguez, Za’kiah Randle, Ja’miya Sanders, Jaylei Simington, Wesley Smith (Piper Smith), Kimarria Thornburg, Anayah Thornton, Saniyah Walker (Latricia Walker), Skyler Wilburn (Troy Wilburn), Xavier Wilson, Joseph Wyatt, and Kyla Wyatt.
The carnival was a public service project for HAPS students.
Student organizations at Hope High School continued a tradition with a Track or Treat fall carnival in the MAC Indoor Athletic Facility at HHS on Oct. 30. Participating student organizations included the HHS Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, HHS Student Council, HHS Cheerleaders, HHS Bobcat Football, HHS Robotics Team, HHS Future Farmers of America chapter, HHS Future Business Leaders of America chapter, and HHS Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter.
The HHS student groups offered a variety of games for little ones, and a couple of challenges for older students, including Cup Pong, Lucky Fish, Ring Toss, Cup Bowling, and Football Toss.
The Beryl Henry Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization sponsored the BHE Fall Festival fundraiser Oct. 25 with students taking the lead, PTO President Inell Thornton said.
“The students made the games for the booths and ran them as well,” Thornton said. “Our concessions, food was donated by the parents.”
Activities included Ping Pong Tic Tac Toe by Christina Rodriguez; Balloon Bat Pop by Mya Monk; Go Fish by Kenadi Phillips; Pumpkin Pick A Pop by Aldiad Lara, Cynthia Vargas, and Keidy Azanza; Hershey Kiss Booth/Soda Ring Toss by Luna Almazon and Kalen Cheatham; Face Painting/Tattoos by Olivia Newsom and Isabelle Barnett; Punch Out by Corliss Stuckey; and, Witch Hat Toss by Karen Flenory.
Sign-in was maintained by Chloe Biddle, Deanna Merchant, Jessica Juarez, and Yudit Dominguez. Open microphone music was directed by music teacher Sandra Jones, and parent volunteers included Kathy Johnson, Torez Cheatham, Tyronza Hale, Gabrielle young, Michelle Davis, Katie Flenory, Keturah Artis, Lori White, Tiffany Brown, Tamika Cheatham, and Becky Christian.
“We also give a special thanks to the BHE staff for their contribution,” Thornton said.
