Santa Cop program another success

HOPE – Members of the Hope Police Department shop for Santa Cop at Wal-Mart in Hope.

This program is funded entirely through donations from the community as well as local clubs and employees of the Hope Police Department. Santa Cop is officer nominated and based off of citizen contacts throughout the year. This year, the Hope Police Department raised $480 through donations from the annual P.D. Rookies Vs. Veterans Softball Game. Also this year, members of the department participated in a beard tax. For the months of October, November, and December, Officers were allowed to not shave their beards for the donation of $10.00 per month. Our beard tax totaled $330. We would like to thank the employees of Wal-Mart who were quick to help. We would like to thank the following for their donations:

J.M. Vaughan
Claudette Wilson
Debbie Malek
Ruth Wilson
Jerry and Twyla Pruden
Kiwanis Club
Glenda Donaldson
Circle J Farms
Dennis and Linda Ramsey
Arkansas Game and Fish
and all the anonymous donations.

We were able to provide needed clothing, toys, shoes, and presents for six families in need with a total of 15 kids ranging in age from 11 months to 16 years old. Members of the Hope Police Department will deliver the items to the families on Christmas Eve.
