Stanley “Ray” Burton was born Saturday, October 17, 1959 to Earmy Jean Poindexter and Rayford Burton Jr. in Hope, Arkansas. At an early age, Ray joined First Church of God where he was baptized and used his beautiful voice to sing in the choir. He attended Hope Public Schools and graduated from Hope High School in 1978.
After graduating, Ray joined the United States Army and served as a Military Police Officer. He was employed in many areas of security, but he was mostly proud of the security he gave to children while serving as a security officer for the Little Rock, AR school district.
Ray was a very lively person and had a heart for children. He departed this life on Friday, October 4, 2019 at John L. McClellan Veterans’ Memorial Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earmy Jean Poindexter and Rayford Burton Jr., and his brother, Rayford III.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons; Trevon Burton of Amarillo, TX and Vonderick Noble of Hope, AR, grandson dear to his heart, Vonderick Jr., brother, David Burton of Hope, AR, three sisters; Gwendolyn Muldrew and Denise Burton both of Hope, AR and Sondra Burton-Johnson (Mike) of Los Angeles, CA, two uncles; Frank Witherspoon (Bobbie) of Hope, AR and Robert Poindexter of Tacoma, WA, two nephews; Ramon Smith of Little Rock, AR and Delvin Smith of Hope, AR, niece, Briana Muldrew of Hope, AR, three great nieces, Sheaquille Turentine of Hope, AR, and Laquasha and Ladaesha Smith of Texarkana, AR, great great-niece and nephew, Za’khyia and Damarion of Hope, AR, stepmother, Earnestine Burton of Hope, AR, and a special friend, Dorothy Williams. Ray was loved by many close relatives and friends.
