Oakhaven Welcomes Hundreds of Vehicles For First Night of Luminairies
The town of Oakhaven north of Hope off state highway 32 welcomed hundreds of cars as the community held their first night of luminaries. The town has been decorated with thousands of lights as well as blow-up, nativity scenes and other Christmas decorations. Almost every home had lights and decorations. Those decorations will remain up and lit each night through January 1st. If you missed this week’s luminaries, you will have a second chance to enjoy them Saturday December 21st starting at sunset. Hundreds of luminaries prepared, set up, and lit by the Oakhaven residents will line Oakhaven Road into the evening hours. The luminaries are generally expected to attract visitors from about 5:30pm until 8pm; however, this week, visitors were still coming through after 9:30pm. Those driving through will be offered free homemade cookies and cocoa. Also, Santa will be on hand to visit with kids in their cars and Mrs. Santa will pass out free candy canes and offer a story about them. The event is free and is the small town’s gift to the area. Everyone is encouraged to come in on the south end of Oakhaven Road and exit on the north end (near New Millenium).
