School Choice Exemption For Hope Reversed

A federal appeals court has reversed a ruling on an exemption for four Arkansas school districts from that allowed them to not participate in “school choice”.  Hope, Camden-Fairview, Junction City, and Lafayette County were all exempted from participating in “school choice” in 2019 but 3 judges for the 8th Circuit reversed that decision Wednesday.  All 4 districts had argued that “school choice” would result in white flight and prevent the districts from complying with various desegregation consent decrees.  That argument had been successful until Wednesday’s decision.
