Log truck takes out power lines

PRESCOTT – Friday morning didn’t start well for a lot of residents as they lost their electricity after a log truck took out three utility poles.
How it happened, wasn’t known at the time, but, according to Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver, the truck was headed down Main St. around 8:30 a.m. when it somehow got tangled in the power lines. Three utility poles were damaged, with lines ripped down from behind the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Office to the Nevada County Rescue Unit.
Officers with the Prescott Police Department were on hand, blocking traffic and redirecting it accordingly. Oliver said those who have electricity now will be all right, but for everyone else, it could be a couple of days before their power is back on. When the incident first occurred, Oliver said, Prescott Water and Light shut the system down, turning it back on shortly thereafter.
