James Clifton Cheatham was born on Friday, June 22, 1956 in Columbus, Arkansas, to the late Claudine Cheatham-Edwards and Clifton Morgan. The grandson of Annise Cheatham and Nona Hendrix-Cheatham, James was affectionately known as “Chico”. At an early age, he became a member of Hopewell CME Church.
James also united in marriage to Karen Jean Cheatham, and to this union one child, Kerry Cheatham was born. James loved sharing his sense of humor with his family and friends.
At the age of 65, his homegoing came on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was a resident of Mineral Springs, AR. James will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Claudine Edwards and Clifton Morgan; wife, Karen Cheatham; and brother, Charles W. Cheatham.
James leaves the following loved ones to cherish his memories: son, Kerry (Stephanie) Cheatham of Ashdown, AR; stepdaughters, La’Toya (Marcus) Ester of Mineral Springs, AR and Nicole Griffin of Texarkana, TX; brother, Willis Ray Cheatham of Pine Bluff, AR; sister, Evelyn Thomas of Hope, AR and brother-in-law Harvey Thomas of Texarkana, AR; 13 grandchildren; three nieces; three nephews; special friends, Larry Marlow and Odessa Brown; and numerous relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
