Calvary Baptist Calls Gary Johnson As 11th Pastor

Members of Calvary Baptist Church in Hope voted to call Bro. Gary Johnson as pastor on Sunday morning, April 24, 2022.  He becomes the 11th pastor of the Southern Baptist church which started as a mission church of First Baptist – Hope back in 1956.   Bro Johnson is 55 years of age and a life-long resident of Hope.      He is married to the former Javonna Cogbill, who has been a teacher in the Hope School District for some 30 years.  They have a teenage son, Davis  Johnson, who is a student at the HAPS campus.  Bro. Johnson is a 1990 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.  Everyone is invited to attend worship services on Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m. and Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m.  Calvary Baptist Church is located at 1301 West Avenue B Street.
