Morman, Gonzales win DAR essay contest

PRESCOTT – Students from the Prescott School District were recognized Thursday, at the Annual DAR George Washington Tea, held at the First United Methodist Church.

Students were given certificates of participation, with Conner Morman named the winner of the essay contest for the fifth grade and Arden Gonzales the sixth grade winner. This year’s theme was “Continental Congress” where the students had to write about their “state”, telling the congress all about it.

All of the students wrote essays for the contest. The winning ones have been sent to state where they will be judged and the students notified later if they won. Georgia Estes welcomed everyone to the tea. She said no one likes writing essays, especially those in the fifth grade as they’ve never written one before, but this will help them later on. She encouraged the students to participate again next year.
