Pedestrian killed in Hope

HOPE – A New Jersey man was killed early this (Sunday) morning after apparently stepping into the path of a car in Hope. Pedestrian Faheem Shehzad, 36, of Carteret, New Jersey was killed, according to the preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, in the incident which happened at 2:07 am.

State Police say Shehzad stepped into the path of a 2003 Honda Accord driven by Sharon Reed, 59, of Hope, who was traveling east on the Exit 30 off ramp of Interstate 30. Shehzad was pronounced dead at 2:59 am Sunday morning by Hempstead County Coroner David Peters.

Reed was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana. ASP Corporal Darren Henley was the investigating officer.
