Leadership NC visits capitol

Leadership Nevada County held its State Government session on February 9 in Little Rock.   The day started with a visit to the Land Commissioner’s Office. The staff in the State Land Commissioners Office described the process of auctioning land for delinquent taxes in the State.

The group then went on a tour of the capitol and that included the Supreme Court and a stop at the State Treasurers Office where State Treasurer Mark Lowery spoke to the group and they had a photo opportunity to go into the vault holding $600,000.

Senator Steve Crowell then visited with the group about his roll in the senate and different aspects of what the senate does, he then escorted them to the VIP box to watch the Senate while in session.

After lunch the group visited the Secretary of State’s Office and Jaime Land the Director of Public Relations Division spoke to the group and then was able to take a photo with the group.

The group then made their way to the House of Representatives, and they were able to meet and take a photo with Representatives Justin Gonzales and Wade Andrews followed by going into the House and observing the house while in session and being recognized.

They then visited Lt. Governor Leslie Rutledge’s Office, followed by a tour of the State Auditor’s Office where they learned of the Great Treasure Hunt.
