Ribbon cutting for Style by Heather

PRESCOTT – It was a return to home for Style by Heather Thursday morning.
A ribbon cutting was held for the salon, hosted by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, and brought back old memories. Almost 20 years ago, Style by Heather opened for business at the location the ribbon cutting was held for Thursday. The business, owned by Heather Ratcliff, had moved to East Second Street, but plumbing damage from the ice storm and someone running into the side of the business necessitated a move. The move was back to where everything started.
“It was like coming home,” she said. “It’s where I started 20 yeas ago and its comforting.” She added her business is also next door to her mother, Brenda, at H&R Block.
Aside from the location, little has changed for Ratcliff as Style continues to offer haircuts for men and women, hair coloring, color correction, extensions, waxing, formal hairdos for pageants, proms and weddings, tanning, spray tans, 24-hour tans and massage. The business accepts cash, debit and credit, with payment capabilities of scanning with a smart phone.
Jamie Hillery, chamber director, pointed out Ratcliff has been cutting hair for 20 years and after the problems at her other location, decided to stay in Prescott.
Ratcliff said she was nervous, wondering if anyone would show up for the ribbon cutting, which had a packed house. “It’s been a long time since I’ve done a ribbon cutting. I love Prescott, it’s home and always will be. I’m grateful to be here.” She thanked her family, saying the renovations to the new shop couldn’t have been done without them.
