Herndon-Fuqua feeds first responders

HOPE – It was burgers for badges at First Baptist Church Thursday evening as employees from the Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home cooked for first responders.

The meal consisted of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks. The burgers and hot dogs were cooked by funeral home employees for members of the Hope Police Department, Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office, Hope Fire Department, Pafford Ambulance Service and Hempstead County First Responders. The original idea was to feed them outside, but weather conditions required a move inside to the fellowship hall at First Baptist.

“This is our way of saying thanks to the people who wear the badge and help take care of us,” said Vickers Fuqua, funeral home owner. “They all go above and beyond the call on a daily basis.”
