49’ers Meet at First Baptist

The “49’ers” of First Baptist Church met Tuesday April 11th for their regular monthly meeting. The group meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month in the First Baptist Fellowship Hall at 11:30am and all interested persons are welcome. The members were all encouraged to wear hats and prizes were given in several categories. Mary McPherson took “prettiest hat”, “funniest hat” went to Rusty Beck, and Jan Herring had the dubious honor of wearing the “ugliest hat”. The “most unique hat” was worn by LaJuan Thompson. Her had was decorated with blue ribbons that she had recently won for her entries into the 4 States Fair! Another award was given for “most unique hat” to Bro. Daniel Bramlett. His hat came from Faso Burkina and had been a gift many years ago from his aunt.
The 49’ers also honored one of their own, James Griffith, for his outstanding work with the group and for the church.
The program was from Bonnie Raff of the John Cain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She portrayed Betsy Ross and told the story of the first American flag commissioned by General George Washington. Mrs. Raff’s account of the life of Betsy Ross contained a few surprises! The audience loved it!
