Special Hope School Board Meeting

The Hope School Board held a special meeting on Thursday.  The board met at the School Administration Building on 2nd Street downtown.

Proposals for “Magnet Evaluation” were considered.  The board accepted a bid for $60,000 from Scott Consulting.  The contact would be for a five year period and could be amended on a year-to-year basis.

The board voted to accept two students who applied to the Collegiate Academy.  The academy can accept up to 50 students per year.

Issues with the school calendar were considered.  These included some professional development at Hempstead Hall and some training on active shooters.  August 14th will be the first day of school.  After Christmas and New Years, school will resume on January 4th.  The last scheduled day for 2023/2024 will be May 29th.  Should the school need to make up days, those make up days will be May 30th and 31st.   The board approved the calendar.

A closed disciplinary meeting closed out the meeting.  When the board reconvened, they voted to uphold a five day suspension.  The meeting then adjourned.
