Hope Farmers Market Has Good Opening Day

The Hope Farmer’s Market opened Tuesday to unseasonably cool temperatures but a good number of vendors    There were baked goods, honey, flowers, vegetables, meat and plants for sale. Vendors included Solomon Farms, the Silvey family , Roger Davis (Papa’s Honey).
While there were a few new vendors, many have been there for years. The Silvey family has been at the Farmer’s Market for ten years. Papa’s Honey is shipped to 15 states from here and has hives in 15 locations and is the largest honey producer in the county, Solomon farms has honey, pickles, carrots, radishes.
Diane Young grows beautiful flowers and a variety of herbs and does flower arrangements.. she has been at the market for 5 years.
The Salinas family have been at the market for along time and typically provide a lot of produce.
Terry Kirkpatrick was there with his vegetables. He is quite knowledgeable about growing and spoke at the workshop about High Tunnels earlier this year.
Farmer’s Market manager Deanna Gilbert was thrilled at both the vendor and customer turnout and said it will only get better.
Cow Pen Bottom Farm in Lewisville had some beautiful plants. This is her fourth year growing in a greenhouse and she said she has been farming all her life.
Farm on the Hill had flowers and farm-raised beef.
Papa’s Honey will be at the market more as Davis is expanding to vegetables production as well.
