Hope In Action Offers Thanks

The Hope in Action food bank has recently been the focus of two exceptional food drives, according to Director Mae Dulaney.  “We are so grateful to the local Post Office mail carriers who collected food on their routes and to other Postal Service employees who also helped — and of course to the local community for donating to the drive,” she said.  Approximately 4,540 individual items were donated and some things are still being brought in by local residents who missed the Post Office drive day, she said.  “That was a lot of food added to each carrier’s regular amount of mail to carry,” said Mrs. Dulaney.  “And we appreciate it so much.”

A second food drive was coordinated and carried out by the senior girls of Garrett Memorial Christian School.  “They did a wonderful job, with 750 much-needed items being donated to the food bank,” said Mrs. Dulaney.  “And again, we appreciate all those who donated to the girls’ service project of collecting food for the hungry.”

Hope in Action food bank, located at 606 W. Third Street in Hope, is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
